The impact on global economy from World Cup has always been significant. When Brazil was chosen to be the host of the 2014 World Cup, the country certainly expected the economic benefits that it would bring.

World cup attracts a lot of tourist and puts its host country into the spotlight. However, four years on from the 2014 World cup and its effect on Brazilian economy has been surprisingly negative. Since 2015, its exports started getting down as Brazil’s main trading partners like China, USA and Argentina have dealt with slowdown of global economy. The statistics from 2016 indicated a slight recovery in the GDP after the country has hit by its worst ever recession. In 2017, Brazil’s unemployment crisis reached the worst in 20 years. However, this crisis has created new opportunity. Positive forecasts by the government and increased consumer and company spending, sheds a promising future in coming years.
